About Us

At Cognitas Health, we know dealing with dementia issues can be frightening. You are probably nervous about the symptoms. No one wants to hear a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s for their loved ones—nor for themselves.

How much of “getting forgetful” is due to normal aging? What should I be concerned about?

This is where we come in. We specialize in detecting Alzheimer’s Disease and other dementias, as well as differentiating between dementia and other signs associated with normal aging. This includes pinpointing your memory or cognitive problems associated with other sources, such as stress, sleep problems, dietary irregularities, depression, lack of exercise, and isolation.

While there is no cure for Alzheimer’s or some of the other dementias, often times there ARE symptoms that can be caught and corrected. With you, we formulate a personalized program of lifestyle activities that have been demonstrated to delay or even reverse many of the symptoms of dementia. And with monitoring every 6 months, you may find reduced symptoms, if not turning your symptoms around.

Success Story

When Vicki came to us, she was just 55. She had noticed the embarrassing silent pauses while everyone waited for her to find the word she searched for at work team meetings. The breaking point was when she spent a weekend with a girlfriend at Disneyland and her friend constantly, and graciously, finished half her sentences.

After a series of tests, we recommended for Vicki a lifestyle program. She took it seriously and within several months she found it easier to find proper words in conversations. Her program included:
  • MIND EXERCISES: Such as word games and playing music
  • PHYSICAL EXERCISE: Both walking and weight-bearing
  • FOOD CHANGES: We suggested she see if a gluten-free diet worked for her, as well as less fried foods and adding more leafy greens, and adding food supplements
  • STRESS CONTROL: She chose to quit a volunteer organization in order to have time to relax in the evenings, and began meditating for 20 minutes every morning
